Upcoming: Zeekr Camping at Wallaroo

Packing for my first-ever camping trip in the back of the Zeekr 7X! From testing out custom blackout window covers and air mattresses to planning a clever long-weekend charging strategy at Wallaroo, here is how I'm prepping my EV for life under the stars.

Hey everyone!

I have been waiting quite a while for this one, and the time has finally come. An exciting road trip is on the horizon, and I’m heading off to Wallaroo to camp in the back of my Zeekr 7X for the very first time! I finally get to put Camp Mode to the test, and I couldn’t be more ready.

Here is how I’ve been getting my gear sorted for the maiden voyage:

1. Sleeping Arrangements: King Single vs. Double

To figure out the best fit for car camping, I picked up both a King Single and a Double Air Mattress from Anaconda. They were super affordable, so I figured it’s a win-win – even if one doesn’t end up being the ultimate fit for the 7X cabin, it’s always handy to have extra air mattresses around for guests or future trips outside of Zeekr camping. (Plus, I already had a 12V pump ready to go!)

This is the King Single I purchased, the dimensions are advertised to fit withing the Zeekr boot dimensions.

Zeekr = 103cm Wide (At wheel arches)
Mattress = 100cm Wide

But we will see how this goes, and I’ll update in the next post.

2. Pitch-Black Privacy

One of the sneaky challenges of camping in caravan parks is dealing with those bright security and walkway streetlights left on all night for people walking to the amenities block. To combat that, I’ve purchased custom-sized window cutouts made specifically for every window in the Zeekr 7X. They snap in to make the entire cabin completely pitch-black – giving me and my fiancée total darkness for a great night’s sleep.

3. Beating the Long Weekend Charger Rush

Since this trip lands on a long weekend, I had a few worries about public EV chargers being completely over-saturated with holiday crowds waiting in line. To keep things stress-free over our 3-day stay, I picked up my official charging cables from Zeekr Adelaide. My plan is to ask the caravan park if they permit “granny charging” (plugging into a standard AC power outlet) to keep things trickling along overnight right at my site.

What’s Next?

I am super keen for this getaway and can’t wait to see how the 7X handles life as a rolling campsite.

I’ll definitely be posting a full photo recap after the trip! My phone doesn’t always play nicely with the site, preferring a PC instead. Since I definitely won’t be bringing a computer on a true getaway, give me a few days to get back and unpack before the photo gallery drops.
