Welcome to ZeekrGeek

Welcome to ZeekrGeek, I’ve created this space to serve as a digital “garage” for my research, findings, and experiences as I transition into the world of electric mobility. Whether you are a fellow reservation holder, a prospective buyer doing your due diligence, or just a fellow tech-enthusiast curious about the cutting edge of the EV market, I’m glad you’re here.

Why This Blog?

I’ve always been the type of person who loves to get under the hood – figuratively and literally. From optimizing PC hardware and managing smart home networks to tinkering with game servers, I enjoy understanding exactly how things work.

When I decided to shift from ICE to BEV, I found myself diving deep into spec sheets, charging standards, and software ecosystems. I realized that the wide range of information that I was gathering – from performance nuances and software quirks to home automation integrations could be incredibly useful for other Australian owners. ZeekrGeek is where I am collating that research to help us all get the most out of our vehicles.

The Vehicle

I currently have an order placed for the Zeekr 7X Performance AWD in Tech Grey, paired with the sleek black interior. It’s an exciting jump in technology for me, and I’m currently counting down the days until our scheduled delivery in August.

If all goes to plan, this will be my primary daily driver and my first leap into the electric lifestyle.

The Background

I’m coming from a 2018 Holden ZB Commodore VXR. I’ve loved the performance and handling of the VXR, so the bar is high for the 7X. I’m particularly interested in how the Zeekr’s electric architecture compares to the traditional performance driving experience I’m used to, and how the “software-defined vehicle” paradigm changes the ownership experience.

What to Expect

As we approach the delivery date, I’ll be updating this site with:

  • Deep-Dive Comparisons: Analyzing the differences between the global models and our local Australian specs.
  • Tech & Automation: How I plan to integrate the 7X into my existing smart home setup.
  • Ownership Insights and Guides: Real-world testing, charging strategies, and those inevitable “things I wish I knew” moments.

I’m thrilled to have you along for the ride. Stay tuned – I’ve got plenty more to share as we get closer to hitting the road.
