Zeekr Charger? SET!

The author shares their preparations for receiving a Zeekr 7X, highlighting the installation of a 7kW Zeekr Wall Charger to alleviate range anxiety. Despite limited home power capacity, the installation was quick and the charger connected successfully to the app. They eagerly await the delivery of their EV.

Another day, another post for my preparations to receive my Zeekr 7X!

Today we had installed the Zeekr 7kW Wall Charger!

Following on from advice I was given by other EV owners in my workplace about the negatives of owning an EV, I decided to immediately shut one of those worries down by purchasing a higher wattage Zeekr EV Wall Charger. This would help kill range anxiety as I’d keep the battery at 80% (for longevity) for each run of each day.

My home is limited to single phase without a very costly upgrade, so I opted for the 7kW Zeekr Wall Charger.

Installation by the electrician was much faster than I had come to expect, all work had been completed before midday which was great!

Unfortunately I did not have the EV on hand to test it. However the charger successfully connected to the app first go, and seems to manageable without any problems so far.

Come to think of it as I write this, I do actually need to give AGL a call tomorrow. Then I can discuss how long it will take to swap over to the Night Saver EV electricity plan so I can take advantage of that sweet 8c/kWh limited time period! So fingers crossed that goes well and won’t take too long.

Looking forward to seeing that charging ring LED change after I finally receive the long awaited phone call from Zeekr Adelaide!

I’m a South Australian tech-obsessed tinkerer who lives for the sweet spot where performance meets innovation. If it can be optimised, automated, or pushed to its limit, I’m probably already working on it, whether that’s tweaking my PC for peak gaming, re-architecting my smart home networks, or diving deep into the next generation of electric vehicle tech.

My world is a constant project, shifting from complex home lighting systems to whatever else needs a custom touch. But when I’m not lost in the code or the hardware, you’ll find me off the grid, hanging out with my Maremma Sheepdog, Walter.
